Organising the BOQ: chapters, lines and sources
A workflow guide for preparing and reviewing a BOQ. It describes professional checks and does not promise automatic recognition, compatibility or a connection that has not been verified for the project.

Check the source
Define chapter structure and package scope before editing. Each line needs a clear description, unit, quantity and source. An item code helps organisation but does not replace the full description of the required work.
Incorporate the data
AiN combines model data and manual completion in the BOQ preparation process. A model-based line can be traced to its originating elements. Check supplementary lines separately against drawings, specifications and project decisions.
Review before issue
Before delivery, check duplicates, unsupported lines, inconsistent units and chapter boundaries. Review pricing after defining quantities and scope. A plausible final total is not evidence that the BOQ is complete.
Review checklist
- Identify the source file and revision.
- Record the unit and measurement rule, and check scope boundaries.
- Distinguish model data, manual completion and AI suggestions.
- Record missing data or exceptions before using a quantity for pricing.
