Reading model data before quantity calculation

A workflow guide for preparing and reviewing a BOQ. It describes professional checks and does not promise automatic recognition, compatibility or a connection that has not been verified for the project.

Check the source

Identify the original data type: area, volume, length, count or text parameter. Similar column names can represent different measurement methods. Compare a sample of elements with the model view and source application data.

Incorporate the data

Check units, detail level and linked files before aggregation. Do not combine volume from one column with area from another. Missing data remains a review issue rather than automatically becoming zero.

Review before issue

Retain an element ID and enough information to return to the file and revision. For a discrepancy, distinguish geometry, parameter, filter and measurement-rule causes. Correct the cause rather than editing only the aggregate.

Review checklist

  • Identify the source file and revision.
  • Record the unit and measurement rule, and check scope boundaries.
  • Distinguish model data, manual completion and AI suggestions.
  • Record missing data or exceptions before using a quantity for pricing.
