Documenting the source of a quantity
A workflow guide for preparing and reviewing a BOQ. It describes professional checks and does not promise automatic recognition, compatibility or a connection that has not been verified for the project.

Check the source
Explain how each quantity was produced: model data, drawing measurement, calculation or manual completion. Record the file, revision and transformation. A generic source label is insufficient if reviewers cannot return to the material that was checked.
Incorporate the data
Distinguish a checked measurement from imported data or an unapproved suggestion. The distinction matters even if the numbers agree. It identifies the further review required before pricing or delivery.
Review before issue
A model line stays associated with its originating elements, while a supplementary source is documented separately. Do not erase this distinction during updates merely to make the table look uniform.
Review checklist
- Identify the source file and revision.
- Record the unit and measurement rule, and check scope boundaries.
- Distinguish model data, manual completion and AI suggestions.
- Record missing data or exceptions before using a quantity for pricing.
